Paul & Dave, those are a couple of rare ones. The Wildcat, because it sounds like it has original finish in decent shape, and the Cougar because it would seem to be one of those made after Wurlitzer bailed because of the finish problems. I've found a few sites that collectively outline the history of them pretty well, with a lot of detail in some areas. I have a Wildcat refinished red in great shape, a burst Cougar 12-string that somebody converted to a baritone (also have original neck), and most of a Gemini in parts covered with bar smoke scum.

I have a cherry red, Cougar style, AlRay guitar with the HOLMAN-WOODALL plate, with serial number 155194, made in Neodesha, Ks. It does not have the rocker switch next to the pickups, nor does it have the 5th dial at the neck/body connection as shown on most medels like this. I'm guessing it's the mono model as well. Do you have any information about this instrument? Age, rarity?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I have a Wurlitzer Wildcat I got in either 1966 or 1967. It still looks new until you flip it over and find 3 small chips in the paint. So I would only rate it an A (not A+). The stereo jack is a bit smaller than a standard plug, because a regular guitar cord won't fit.

Do you know what size this jack is and where I might get a cord?

Also do you know of a source that can help me date it by it's serial number?

Thanks,
Paul
