I had the box too. I found the box in the basement of an apartment I moved into in the mid-90s. Ironically, I also played it through a twin reverb. To date, it is my most favorite sound in the world. I lent it to someone. It never came back.

I'm now sad forever and have spent lots of money over the years building an extensive collection of pedals to kind of replace the box, but its not the same... it'll never be the same. i morn its loss daily.

I tried to build one... DIY style. not the same. It needs the box it needs the glowy knobs and sliders.

Only one who has had the Box and lost the box knows the heartbreak.

They are magic.

Last year I attended my best friend's wedding reception, and ran into somebody I hadn't seen since about 1990. During the conversation, it emerged that I'd lent him a 1970's Ibanez flanger, the yellow one with three knobs, in about 1987, and that he still had it! He offered to return it, but it seemed a bit churlish after over a quarter of a century!

I had one of these in the 80's, being a Ludwig effect, i thought it might be for drums as it made a cool reverb/phase shift like Peter Criss used live during his solo on 100,000 Years. I dinked about with the pots and such and messed it up. $3-4K now i'm crying.....

Yeah, I know. I sold my 57 Magnatone to pay the electric bill. That list would go on too long as well. But you always think, I can buy it back when I get some money. The first Magnatone cost me $10 and about $40 in tubes to make it work. I sold it for $350. It cost me $700 to buy another 57 and it's not nearly as nice. I had a couple of Phase II Univox Hy Fliers that I sold about the same time and the Kurt Cobain Mania was causing prices to rise. They were cool and fun to play but when I see them on eBay for $900, I have to shake my head. There is no justification in the world for that purchase. I have all the parts to build a Phase I for about $100, an Aria Hi Flier that someone painted for $200 and mint Phase III for $300 because the neck plate is attached a little crooked. Yeah, but what about the Jaguar, the Jazzmaster, the 68 SG, the Flying V, and oh man. my Vibrolux. It's an ebb and flo. I am grateful for all the cool stuff I had just to be able to say I had it.

Dude, in fact this "Box" is one of the coolest boxes ever made.

Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore used it on that weird "oyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoy" effect at the beginning of The Diamond Sea.

Hope you find another one at a garage sale, again.

Peace.
