JD’s was owned by James David Musil and was not just an “upscale country sort of place”. JD’s was well known for the rock-n-roll, R&B and blues acts they booked. Also I’m pretty sure Waylon’s first “gaudied up”, carved leather bound Telecaster was a 1968.
