The Chibson and Chinese Fender market is a big one. Thousands of these fakes are sold every year cutting into sales of the major brands.

Also, a lot of the other second tier markers while mentioned re not emphasized. I can get a decent Ibanez or Schecter, or so many other names for a lot less money nd get a lot more guitar value. Why would I buy a Les Paul for $3K when I can get an ESP LTD EC for a 1/3rd the price and get a guitar with a nicer fit and finish with a great sound and excellent playability.
