I your guitar is electric, put a switch on it to turn it off. I see heaps of guitar players rolling the volume down to stay quiet. Then they have top roll it back exactly to the same spot (about 8/10) to get he right tone back. If you have a switch you can just flick it of or on. Nice and easy.

Maybe putting some graphite in the nut slots of the strings will help my guitar stay in tune better. These tricks are pretty interesting. It never would have occurred to me to take the screws out of my peddles and put Velcro in there. Being able to keep my guitar in good shape is important to me.

One other trick that I was told about around thirty years ago is to use the rubber seal ring from a bottle of Grolsch (sic?) Beer, or other like-bottled beverage and place it over the strap holder and strap. It's a pretty good fix for a strap that likes to come off. It's not as sure as a purpose built strap lock, but it's only the cost of a couple of bottles of brew that one was probably going to down at a bar gig and it works remarkably well. If that's not your brand, buy a cold one for a couple of your bandmates and keep your strap from slipping off in the middle of the face face melting solo that you always play.

Here's an enhancement to Hack #1: get a PickPunch at www.pickpunch.com. I was given one as a gift a couple of years ago and haven't had to buy a pick since. Not only that, once people know you have it they'll bring you old credits cards to see how they look as picks. Each old credit card yields about 5 or 6 picks!
